Child, Adolescent and Family Psychotherapist

About Kim

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents and families.
I provide parent skills training within the framework of family therapy and individual therapy to help parents manage behavioral problems and situations.  The focus of therapy is specific to the needs of each family. Some families benefit most from focusing on general parent-child interactions. Other families are best helped through teaching more effective parenting strategies to replace parenting responses that are not working.  I also teach parents how to manage children with specific behavioral or psychological problems.
Parenting skills training is a lifeline for parents who feel overwhelmed by their child’s challenging behavior and for those who feel their rewards, punishments and heart-to-hearts are not working. Each family is unique and treatment plans are based on an assessment of each family’s needs.
As a parent myself, I understand the daily challenges of child rearing. I work almost exclusively with families concerned about their children’s behavior at home and in school.  Together we:

  • Expand your child’s behavioral repertoire to reduce inappropriate behaviors
  • Increase positive parent-child relationships
  • Decrease parental stress
  • Make family time more enjoyable
